A successful inaugural journey with our Aston Martin DB4 to Sport & Collection charity event!

The 28th edition of Sport & Collection was a huge success with more than 1.000 competitors and 30.000 spectators! The rain we met during our journey did not spoil the drive on board the Aston Martin DB4, which we will remember for long, as driving on small remote country roads, passing through magnificent villages and ending the day with a beautiful light are very special times indeed. Once we arrived in Le Vigeant track near Poitiers, all we got was sun for four exceptional days.

A strong line-up of star cars

It is with great pleasure that we spent these four days surrounded by superb cars driven by fellow enthusiasts. Our days have been mostly spent with the Concours d’Elégance’s attendants.  Under the supervision of the French Federation of Historic Vehicles and presided by Patrick Delage, the concours gathered the creme de la creme of pre-war cars:  Mercedes SSK from Mulhouse museum, Bugatti 57C, Jaguar SS100, Bugatti Type 37, Delahaye 135, Hispano Suiza, Delage, Voisin… Among the post-war cars, besides our Aston Martin DB4, we spotted a superb Lancia Aurelia B20GT and a pair of pristine silver Ferraris, a 330 GT 2+2 and a 250 GTE… The highlight was the short yet enjoyable rally towards the Royal Abbey of La Réau… a real jewel.
While we were enjoying this drive with other vintage cars, the atmosphere was actually filled with track sessions gathering the latest Ferrari models, including the brand new 296 GTB that was driven along with 812 Competizione, SF90 and 488 Challenge models.

A successful concours d’élégance and charity auction!

It was an honour to present our fully original Aston Martin at the Concours d’Elegance presided by Patrick Delage, the great grandson of Louis Delage. There was no preservation class but we were still rewarded with a prize that highlighted the original condition of our car.

After the Hispano Suiza that won the Best of Show last year, it was the turn of the magnificent Bugatti 57C with a Gangloff coachwork, already awarded in the Basque Classic concours, to get the honour of the jury. For sure a well deserved price, even though the competition was strong.
Last but not least, we are delighted to see Remi Dargegen’s photo of our F40, a lot we offered at the charity auction being sold for 500 €. All funds will go to Poitiers’s hospital to fight cancer.
Congratulations to the organisers, volunteers and participants, it was a pleasure to be part of this fantastic event once again!
